Kristi Noem would hire John Kerry as climate “czar” on her first day as president, the South Dakota Republican governor wrote in her recent autobiography.
It would be “just to have the satisfaction of looking him in the eye and saying, ‘You’re fired,’” she wrote.
Noem’s autobiography released this month, “No Going Back,” has sparked an uproar, in part due to her description of shooting her 14-month-old dog, Cricket, in a gravel pit. Noem has also faced questions about the accuracy of claims made in her book. The backlash against her may have hurt any chance she had of getting the nod as former President Donald Trump’s running mate this fall.
Beyond her accounts of shooting her dog and a “demon goat,” Noem’s book calls for more oil and gas drilling, assails “elected and unelected bureaucrats,” and calls for booting federal agencies out of Washington.
