Joel Pedersen, the former president and CEO of the Mule Deer Foundation, is set to take the helm of the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership, the group announced Monday.

Pedersen, who also served in leadership roles during more than two decades at the National Wild Turkey Federation, will start in his new role Sept. 1, the TRCP board said. He left the Mule Deer Foundation in February after three years as its leader.

“Joel is a coalition builder and an inspiring leader who made a lasting impression on the board with his deep knowledge of conservation policy, passion for the American model of conservation, and well-earned respect within the conservation community,” Alston Watt, chair of the TRCP board of directors, said in a statement.
