The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee has scheduled a confirmation vote Wednesday for the second-in-command role at the Interior Department.
Shannon Estenoz, President Joe Biden’s pick for deputy secretary at Interior, won high praise from both sides of the aisle in her confirmation hearing earlier this month.
“She’s good. She’s solid,” Chair Joe Manchin (I-W.Va.) said of Estenoz at the time. “[She’s] well-qualified, she’s well-versed, and she speaks pretty direct.”
Manchin previously blocked a separate Senate confirmation for acting Deputy Secretary Laura Daniel-Davis, who Estenoz would replace, for her stance on fossil fuels.
