Staff at the climate advocacy nonprofit Evergreen Action have unionized, they announced Tuesday.

Eligible employees at the group, founded in 2020 by veterans of Jay Inslee’s Democratic presidential campaign, agreed to form the Evergreen Union, staff said in a news release.

The move makes Evergreen the latest in a wave of green groups to unionize in recent years. Others include the Natural Resources Defense Council, 350.org, Defenders of Wildlife, the National Audubon Society and others.

“We love this organization enough to want it to be the best version of itself, and we care enough to hold it accountable,” Evergreen Union employees said in a statement. “With the establishment of a union, we know we can make Evergreen even more effective.”
